The Heroes
Characters are the blood and soul of “Heroes and Legends”. Each of them harbors a different personality, expresses dramatic animations and features a detailed backstory. Our goal is to make our heroes something more than a unit which players are used to commanding on a battlefield. Below is a step-by-step deconstruction of the features that make our heroes so special — starting from general description and followed by the complex depiction of upgrading your heroes, merging and equipping them with powerful artifacts and using the fabled dragon blood to receive the ultimate battle unit — one of the legendary Dragons!

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Heroes are segmented into groups of differing power levels. A rarer hero can be bought or acquired from the merge of heroes with lesser rarity.
A hero of higher rarity level is multiple times more powerful than a hero of the previous level. The value of the more rare hero is slightly less than the combined value of the heroes that merged to get this one, which is not surprising. The four rarity levels are
- Common
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
For each rarity, there are two kinds of heroes namely; Ordinary and Star. Merging heroes either gets you a character of a higher rarity level or provides a star status to the existing merged one.
UPGRADE
Heroes upgrade by leveling up, absorbing weapons, and acquiring characters of higher rarity from the merging of lower ones but aiming for the maximum of each rarity merge range always gives you the greatest chance of obtaining a higher rarity fighter.
The rarity level of things your hero can absorb depends on their rarity level. Besides Common rarity heroes — who can absorb only Common rarity weapons — every other rarity level can absorb up to one level beyond their rarity level as a limit. This means that a Rare hero can absorb a Epic item as the maximum they can absorb. In your journey through the world of Elderun, you may come across consumables that are too high for your party members to absorb.
The overall parameters of upgraded heroes influence the results of merges. Hence, a stronger source will lead to a better merge result. To put it in perspective, a group of Common heroes with high parameters for their rarity are more likely to merge to a higher rarity than a group of Rare level heroes with low parameters for that rarity — all other things being equal.
MERGE

A merge makes use of original heroes and consumables to give you a new heroic fighter. Each rarity has a specific range of characters to be merged to create a new, stronger character of higher rarity.
The starting parameters of a new card is dependent on the character parameters used to merge into the new one. Higher original card values — upgrades included — result in more powerful new heroic fighters. It emphasizes the importance of upgrading your fighters’ parameters as it helps you in the long run.
Merging works all the time, but the probability of you getting a character of higher rarity is based on the consumables used and the number of heroes involved in the merge. This means that if you wish to accrue a higher rarity fighter, waiting until you have more characters and consumables is a good way to go about it as your chances are impacted with each character you add to the merge.
For example, you would need a certain number of Common rarity cards to get a Rare rarity fighter. But if you wish to have an Epic hero, that would require more characters to merge. The more characters and consumables you involve in the merge, the better your chances of getting a higher rarity card.
Selection of abilities
Abilities given to the new merged character aren’t chosen at random but instead, they are gotten from the existing abilities of the original characters that were merged. This mode of repetition of abilities increases the drop rate.
Rarity not being increased
If the merge does not result in a higher rarity hero but gives a Star hero in the same rarity as the ordinary heroes that were merged, the parameters of the Star hero will be higher. These parameters will still be higher than the ordinary fighters when taking into account the other consumables used in merging. You can use your Star hero in another merge to better the chances of you obtaining a higher rarity card that you failed to get prior.
Increasing the chance of success
In situations when a Star hero is created and the merge does not result in a higher rarity card, the player receives a token that enhances the chance of the merge succeeding in the future. This prevents too many multiple failed merges that don’t end up with a new rarity level hero.
Rarity is increased
In cases when the rarity level is increased, the player gets a hero of a higher rarity than the ones used for the merge.
DRAGON BLOOD
Each hero has dragon blood, with Epic and Legendary rarities able to attain a dragon. The more dragon blood is built up, the better the probability of you getting your dragon. So try upgrading your band of characters as much as you can. Go on adventures! Slay beasts, and acquire valuable consumables that will aid you in merging into higher rarities.
DRAGONS
In these uncertain times in Elderun, your heroes need the dragons now more than ever. Even though a party of 3 heroes with evenly distributed upgrades and rarity are likely to defeat a dragon, these winged, mythical creatures are stronger than all other characters in the same rarity.
Only dragon items can be used on dragons and there is no upgrade limit with regards to rarity level. The price, however, does increase steeply with each level. The advantages of dragon upgrades reduce too as the price increases until it feels counter-intuitive to even upgrade your dragon.
